Luke 11:51

Gospel of Luke. His article does not name an edition. The Latin checked here is the public-domain Vulgate.

The verse names Abel and Zacharias. It does not date them.

Luke 11:51 in the same CCEL Vulgate file. Ellis does not say he used it. This verse does not call Zacharias the son of Barachias.
Locator
Luke 11:51

What the source says

The Latin runs from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zacharias, who perished between the altar and the house. It does not add the father’s name that Matthew 23:35 has.

Why it is here

Ellis cites it beside Matthew 23:35 in Jesus, King of Edessa.

Ralph’s interpretation

Both verses are read as a lament for a Zacharias of the AD 60s, not as a saying from the AD 30s.

Alternative readings

The usual reading takes the pair as one saying within the ordinary gospel chronology. No commentator is named in the pages this record uses.
